1. Attend Local RV Shows: A lot of dealers look the same at shows. Do your homework and visit the RV dealers that have the RV's you like. Have them take you on a tour of their facility and meet their people. Look for things that are important to you after the sale; dealership personnel, large service and parts departments, RV storage, LP gas, an RV dump station and so on. These things will help you enjoy your RV for years after you purchase. Floor plan is the number one factor in determining what RV will fit your lifestyle. Don't buy on price alone. While price is important, be sure to do your homework and spend some time on the web. The sweet taste of a "good deal" fades quickly if the RV you purchased doesn't fit your family's needs or budget.

2. Rent One First: If your are unsure if the RV lifestyle is right for you, try renting an RV first. This will give you a good idea about what you like or dislike about the RV you are renting. It will also help you understand which floor plan works or what you would change in the floor plan if you were buying it.

3. Spend Some Time Searching: Research the potential dealer(s) that you would like to purchase from. Are they committed to you? How do they rate with their local BBB and are they members? Is the dealer(s) a member of their National (RVDA) & State RV associations? A dealer that commits their time and resources to these types of associations are accountable. This also reflects how they will commit their time and resources to you. This is important in all phases of your purchase; before, during and after the sale.
